The journal ENALIA was founded in 1988 by Nikos Tsouchlos and Yannis Vichos. The first issue was published in a limited number of copies, in the form of a brief informational bulletin, in December 1987. The first volume of the periodical publication was released in February 1989. It is the only specialized journal for underwater and nautical archaeology published in Greece and one of the very few in the world.

Since 2002, the journal ENALIA has been circulating in its new format. Articles are written primarily in Greek and English, accompanied by an adequate summary in the other language. The journal’s content includes topics relating to the Institute’s activities, related activities in Greece, as well as articles by Greek and foreign scientists.
