The Hellenic Institute of Marine Archaeology, over its 49 years of activity, has engaged highly significant sponsoring bodies. This is achieved because it is able to demonstrate noteworthy scientific work, organizational capabilities, high volunteer participation, as well as the sensitivity to communicate the results of its efforts to the wider public.
H.I.M.A.’s activity is based primarily on voluntary work, while its budget relies exclusively on sponsorships and donations, extraordinary state subsidies and European grants, which come mainly from:
- Private individuals with a high degree of sensitivity and social responsibility.
- Private legal entities, namely organizations, foundations and companies of all sectors and sizes.
- State bodies and organizations of the broader public sector, such as the Ministry of Culture, Local Government, the Hellenic Navy, etc.
- European Union Managing Authorities, through transnational cooperation programs
